For competition and teams based in College Park
Thank you for joining Soccer in the Streets & the College Park Soccer Club for our spring 2015 season.  We’re happy to be in College Park and we appreciate your support and interest in our program.

Here is a quick overview for this season.

Soccer in the Streets wants to help kids be successful both on and off the field.
** Focus on fun and learning PROPER skills, with a trained & certified age-group coach, who works with players and parents/volunteers, and supervised by professional staff.
** Keep competition appropriate and in perspective, with flexibility to help kids be challenged while at the same time realizing success.
** Maintain a "drama-free" zone for players & parents, that is inclusive regardless of physical ability or skill, ethnicity, social class, family situation, religion or gender.
** Teach love and appreciation for soccer by people who are passionate about the game,  while reforcing life lessons, modeling positive values, teaching character development and providing work experience for teens & young adults.

PLAYER EQUIPMENT:  All players will need to have cleats, shin guards, a soccer ball (size 3 for ages 3-7, size 4 for ages 8-10 and size 5 for 11 and up), black shorts and black soccer socks.  Players should also bring water to practices and games.  Uniforms for players are reversible jerseys (included in the $65 fee.)

LOCATIONS: All age groups will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 in College Park at location to be determined.  Game schedule and locations will be announced as soon as possible.  Older age groups will play at the practice site and other nearby venues during this season.

UNDER 6, UNDER 8:  These age groups are all about learning the game and having FUN. This is the ideal situation for parents who have children they would like to introduce to the game or organized sports. A Soccer in the Streets staff coach will lead the trainings.  Parents/volunteers are encouraged to participate at practices and will be needed to help the kids and their assigned teams at games.

UNDER 10:
This age group is a further progression of the FUNdamentals and some introduction of positions and even a little bit of tactics. These teams will also get to play some AWAY games.  There will be an age group coach and, like the younger teams, parents/volunteers are encouraged to participate at practices and will be needed to help the kids and their assigned teams at games.

UNDER 13: This division will be one of the most competitive divisions, with our participants playing teams from around the Metro-Atlanta area as well as other Soccer in the Streets programs. The participants will have a chance to experience playing teams home and away throughout the season, so some traveling is required (within the Atlanta area). It will be a great opportunity for skill development with a variety of teams and will be trained by our certified staff coach, with assistance from parents/volunteers.

OTHER PLAYING OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE  for kids 14 and up, young adults, both male and female.  Please contact us at 888-436-5833 if you are interested in those opportunities.  You will be referred to the appropriate contact for those practices and games schedules.

March 7 will be the kick-off day and or seasonal “Blue & White” scrimmage day.  Field prep will start at 8:30 a.m. and the scrimmages will start at 10 a.m. This day is important for team placement, so you are encouraged to get registered and participate by this date.

The regular games for RECREATIONAL TEAMS will begin on Saturday, March 14.   As a general rule, the younger teams will play each Saturday morning at 9:00AM (U6/U8). U10 will start their games at 10:00AM, while the U13 teams will Start their games at 11:30AM.

As is tradition, we will finish the season with the semi-annual “Parent vs. Kids” games picnic & awards on May 9.  Tentative rain/make up date is May 16.

GOT AN IDEA TO MAKE OUR LEAGUE BETTER?  We are truly grass roots … in fact, we’re the dirt!  That’s where the seeds grow.  We’re always open to new ideas and suggestions.  Want to arrange for team pictures?  Want to do a field day clean-up project?  Want to make signs or banners for the teams?  Want to find sponsors or supporters?  It’s all possible and because we are small, we don’t need to move a bureaucracy to make things happen.  Let’s talk and see what can be done.  We don’t ask “why?” – instead we ask “Why not?” – Contact Jill Robbins with any ideas (
